RESOLUTION NO.80 -45
A RESOLUTION IN THE MATTER OF MINIMIZING.EXPENDITURES FOR
THE REMAINDER OF THE 1980 BUDGET YEAR AND FOR THE 1981
BUDGET YEAR
WHEREAS, estimates made by the Whatcom County Council
indicate there will be a serious shortfall between
revenue and expenditure for Whatcom County in 1981, and
WHEREAS, Whatcom.County Council is endeavoring to meet
part of this shortfall with employee cuts in the remainder
of 1980, and
WHEREAS, both department heads and others have suggested
part of the shortfall could be diminished by cuts in
areas of the budget other than personnel and through the
reduction of personnel by attrition.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
1. The County Council directs.each department to cut expendi-
tures in all non - personnel categories to the extent possible to
maximize the cash carry -over from 1980 into.1981.
2. The County Council directs each department to submit
preliminary budgets for 1981 with all non - personnel categories set
as frugally as possible.,
3. To the extent possible, all positions that become vacant
by virtue of attrition from.now to the end of 1980 shall be deleted
.from.thp 1,981 Whatcom County Budget.
