HomeMy WebLinkAboutres1980-012I DATE February 21, 1980 INTRODUCED BY Roehl' 2 PROPOSED BY Council 3 4 5 6 RESOLUTION NO. 80 -12 7 8 A RESOLUTION IN THE MATTER OF SETTING THE 9 TERMS OF COUNCIL MEMBERS ON BOARDS AND COM- MISSIONS AND ESTABLISHING ANNUAL ELECTION 10 THEREOF. 11 12 PREA141BLE 13 14 WHEREAS, in the course of its function as the County's Legislative body, the Whatcom County Council must appoint 15 some of its members to serve on various boards and commissions; and 16 WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council has adopted by 17 Resolution Rules of Procedure which stipulates that no Council member shall serve for more than two (2) consecutive full terms 18 on any board, commission, or committee; and 19 WHEREAS, on years in which elections are held, 20 Council members will take office on the second Monday of the January following the November General Election; 21 22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: 23 24 Section 1: That each year at its annual meeting, 25 the Whatcom County Council shall elect its represenatives who shall 26 serve until the next 'annual.meeti.ng to'the various boa."rds and com- 27 missions on which it must appoint its own members to serve. 28 29 Section 2: That this annual election for one (1) 30 year terms shall begin in January, 1981. 31 32 FEB 2 1 1980 Resolution - 1. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 PASSED this 21s.t day of February, 1980.
