4 A RESOLUTION ALLOWING REIMBURSEMENT OF CERTAIN
EXPENSES FOR COUNTY COUNCIL MEMBERS..

611 WIIEREAS, R.C.W. 36.32.310 allows for compensation for
7 extra services or expenses incurred by County Commissioners
8 (Council members); and
9 WHEREAS, pursuant to R.C.W. 42.24.090, the County Council
10 has adopted rules and regulations governing allowances and reim-
11 bursement for official travel for approved public purposes; and
12 WHEREAS, County Council members are asked to serve on
13 many Boards and Committees outside of regular Council Committees,
14 and are urged to attend these meetings; and
15 WHEREAS, it is often in the County's interest to have
16 Council involvement and participation at State and regional meet -
17 ings of county officials; and
18 WHEREAS, travel by county officials and employees is to

20 WHEREAS, it is understood that all claims approved by the
21 Council must then be approved by a Judge of the Superior Court
22 before payment is authorized;
23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that County Council members
24 are hereby authorized to be reimbursed at the going rate for
25 mileage and for out -of-- pocket expenses in the manner prescribed
26 in Ordinance No. 80 -12 for:
27 1. Attendance at official meetings of Boards, Committees
28 or Commissions, outside of official Council commit -
29 tees, to which they are appointed members;
30 2. Attendance at meetings of any official organizations
31 for County officials (e.g., Washington State Assoc -
32 iation of Counties) ;

3. Attendance at meetings when the County Executive
has requested Council member(s) to attend and which
involved specific County business.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council Chairperson (or
the Vice-Chairperson in the absence of the Chair) be authorized to
be reimbursed for two trips to the Courthouse for each regular
(Council meeting, up to a.maximum of four (4) trips per month, to
conduct the extra work required of that position beyond regular
Council duties.
Other specific requests for reimbursement of expenses
by Council members can be pre - authorized by Council vote at any
regular Council meeting.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that each claim for reimbursement
must be verified by the claimant.
