A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF SUBSTITUTE SENATE BILL #3193,
AND /OR HOUSE .BILL #1860 WHICH WOULD GIVE COUNT' VOTERS THE
RIGHT TO TOTE ON NUCLEAR- FUELED THERMAL POWER PLANTS RECOM-
MENDED FOR SITING WITHIN THEIR RESPECTIVE COUNTIES
WHEREAS, there is concern among citizens of Whatcom County
rc!garding the possible siting of nuclear power plants in Whatcom
�-oi.bnty; and

adverse, that would a.ffocct all the citizens of Whatcom County;
and
WHEREAS, the County Council believes the citizens of Whatcom
- o-anty should have a voice i.n determining whether such proposed
developments should occur. in Whatcom County, when they may so af-
foct the publ. .",-ic welfare and the vital interests. of County residen'
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:
Section l:
The Whatcom County Council urges swift and favorable treat-
ment of Substitute Senate Bill #3193 and /or House Bill #1860 by
the State House of Representatives and its appropriate committees
? Jrthermore , the Council urges the Honorable Governor Dixy Lee Ra',
v-.) sign thi.; legislation into law in the event it is enacted by t'.
lk:g:i.slature of the State of Washington.
Section. 2
The Coiinc i.l shall send letters to the Honorable Governor 1)i.x,
L,, --e Ray, thu, Honorable John A. Bagnar. io.I., and the Honorable Duane
Bc-rentson, Co- Speakers of th.e State House of Representatives
conveying the Council's resolve as expressed in Section 1 above.
