RESOLUTION NO. 82 -64
A RESOLUTION OF POLICY GUIDANCE FOR USE OF THE
WHATCOM COUNTY CONVENTION CENTER FUND
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Revised Code of Washington
67.28.180 an excise tax of two percent (2 %) on the
charge for furnishing lodging is being levied in
Whatcom County, and
WHEREAS, these monies are being collected in the
Whatcom County Convention Center Fund, and
WHEREAS, this fund can only be used for the purpose of
acquisition, construction, or operation of public stadium
facilities, convention center facilities, performing art
center facilities and /or visual arts center facilities;
to pay or secure payment for general obligation bonds for
such purposes; or to pay for advertising, publicizing or
otherwise distributing information for the purpose of
attracting visitors and encouraging tourist expansion, and
WHEREAS, Whatcom County has adopted no guidelines to aid
in evaluating requests for expenditure of these funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the policy of Whatcom Count
in determining the expenditure of funds from the Whatcom County
, onvention Center Fund shall be to limit the expenditure each year
not more than Twenty -five Percent (25 %) of the annual revenue to
appropriated for short term projects of a transient nature.
23 The remaining annual revenue, but no less than Seventy -five
24 (75%) each year shall be accumulated in the fund for uses of a
