A RESOLUTION RELATING TO THE BELLINGHAM - WHATCOM
COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH DISTRICT REPEALING RESOLUTION
NO. 82 -37 DECLARING INTENT TO WITHDRAW FROM MEMBER-
SHIP IN THE DISTRICT AND RECINDING REPEAL OF
RESOLUTION NO. 79 -4 ESTABLISHING A COUNTY WIDE
DISTRICT BOARD OF HEALTH CONSISTING OF EIGHT (8)
MEMBERS
WHEREAS, Whatcom County Council by Resolution No. 82 -37
declared its intent to withdraw its membership from the
Bellingham - Whatcom County Public Health District effec-
tive December 31, 1982; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 82. -37 also repealed Resolution
No. 79 -4 establishing a County wide District Board of
Health consisting of eight (8.) members adopted by
Counoi/l on May 10, 1979; and
WHEREAS, it is now the intent of the Whatcom County
Council to repeal Resolution No. 82 -37 and reinstate
the Bellingham - Whatcom County Public Health District
and the County wide District Board of Health consisting
of eight (8) members.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Resolution No. 82 -37 is
hereby repealed.
FURTHER RESOLVED that the Bellingham- Whatcom County Public
Health District, authorizied by Revised Code of Washington, is here
established.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Resolution No. 79 -4 is hereby
24 reinstated, a. copy of which is hereby attached.

ESTABLISHING A COUNTYWIDE``-DISTRICT BOARD OF
HEALTH CONSISTING OF EIGHT ME444RS -

WHEREAS, the Whatcom County District Board of Health
is o,pganized pursuant to Chapter 70.46 of the Revised

Code of "Washington, to consist of eight members consisting
of three .councilmen of the City of Bellingham, three

county commissioners, one representative of the other
cities and towns in Whatcom,-County, and one representative,
of the unincorporated rural area of the county;
AND, WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Charter has abolished
the: off ee;of_•county commissioner, and established the

Whatccom` County `Council as: the legislative author' ty of
ittatcom. County; .
AND WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council intends to
maintain the membership on the Whatcom County District
Hoard.of.Health at eight, and desires to be represented
on said board by three members of the Co.unt'y,Council ` to
be selected by the Council,
'NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, `
SECTION 1. The Whatcom County Council confirms the
creation of the Whatcom County District Hoard of Health
consisting of the entire . county including all cities and towns
within Whatcom County, under chapter 70:,05 RCW and RCW 70.4'.6,020
through 70.46.090.
SECTION 2. The Whatcom County DStrict Boa rd of Health
shall consist of eight members, including three members of
the Whatcom-County Council;"'three members of the Bellingham City ;
Council, one.representative of the cities and towns in Whatcom.
County (other than Bellingham), as may be:aelected by mutual
agreement among the legislative authorities of the cities and
towns concerned), and one person Who is a qualified voter of
an unincorporated. rural area who is appointed.by the legislative
