A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING

CHERRY POINT WORKING GROUP

WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council desires to encourage
9
industrial development at Cherry Point, together with
10
practical measures to manage the environmental consequences
of such development; and
11
WHEREAS, the Council wishes to encourage a unified approach
in seeking appropriate and necessary amendments to the
12
Whatcom County Shoreline Master Plan; and
13
WHEREAS, the Council is now entertaining certain amendments,
14
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County
15
Council:

1. That there is hereby created the Whatcom County Cherry
Point Working Group, consisting of the following
17
members:

Donald G. Hansey
R. W. "Bob" Muenscher
19
J. V. "Jim" Hawley
Wayne Schwandt (to Chair the Group)

Shirley Van Zanten
Robert M. Tull
21
Faruk Taysi
Michael Brennan

Donald Fleming

who shall serve until the Group has completed the
charge set forth in Section 2 below.

2. The Group is charged with the task of proposing to the
25
council and other bodies appropriate and necessary
amendments to the Whatcom County Shoreline Management
26
Plan for the purpose of encouraging industrial develop-
ment at Cherry Point. The Group shall consult with
27
state government, Cherry Point landowners, and other
interested persons and deliver its proposals to the
28
Council by March 1, 1986 or as soon thereafter as is
possible.

3. Except as the Council may enact into law or policy, no
30
individual shall be authorized to represent the
official policy of Whatcom County on the matter of
31
amendments to the Whatcom County Shoreline Master Plan.

tance of the departments and agencies of County
government. Staff support shall be provided by the
Council and such other source of assistance as the
Group may identify.
