HomeMy WebLinkAboutres1985-0031 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 INTRODUCED BY ROEHL PROPOSED BY Cole DATE January 17, 1985 RESOLUTION NO. 85 -3 A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTIONS 83 -45, 79 -1, 82 -8, AND WHATCOM COUNTY CODE 2.02.150 REGARDING THE ORGANIZATION OF THE STANDING COMMITTEES WHEREAS, on the 6th of October:, 1983, a resolution was adopt by the Whatcom County Council establishing rules of procedure for conducting the Whatcom County Council's business, and; WHEREAS, on the lst.of May, 1979, the Whatcom County Council adopted Resolution 79 -1, which also established rules.of procedure for the Whatcom County Council, and; WHEREAS, Whatcom County Code 2.02.150 establishes the member- ships on standing committees, and; WHEREAS, these procedures need to be reviewed from time to time to ensure that the Council continues to function in an orderly and efficient manner, and; WHEREAS, since the adoption of these resolutions it has become apparent that there needs to be a change in the number of standing committees, in that the committee of Law and Justice is no longer needed as an independent committee and can be better handled within the other existing committees. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Resolution 83 -45 shall remain in full force and effect in all of its original terms and conditions unless it is specifically amended by this resolution, and; That Resolution 79 -1 shall remain in full force and effect in all of its terms and conditions unless it is specifically amended by this resolution, and, That Whatcom County Code 2.02.150 shall remain in full force and effect in all of its terms and conditions unless it is RESOLUTION - 1. 1/16/85 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 . 27 28 29 30 31 32 specifically amended hereto. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Section 13 of Resolution 83 -45 shall be amended to read as follows: SECTION 13: Standing Committees. There shall be three (3) members of all standing committees, membership to be determined by majority roll call vote of the Council. The committee membership shall be responsible for election of a Chair and for their internal organization. The date and time of standing committee meetings shall be determined by the Chairperson of such committee and an agenda, including time and place of the meeting, shall be prepared and disseminated at least one day prior to the Committee.. The committee meeting agenda shall further be posted conspicuously within the Whatcom County Courthouse. The following committees are hereby established: 1. Finance 2. Planning and Development 3. Public Services 4--- haw- aad- Justi -ee BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that Whatcom County Code 2.02.150 would read as follows: 2.02.150 Membership on standing committees. A. There shall be three members of all standing committees, membership to be determined by majority roll call vote of the Council.
