RESOLUTION N0. 86 -48
A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING OCTOBER 5 THROUGH 11, 1986
AS "4 -H WEEK" IN WHATCON COUNTY
WHEREAS, Whatcom County's 4 -H members and leaders are
observing National 4 -H Week, October 5 through 11,
1986; and
WHEREAS, 4 -H work is an educational program of the
County, Washington State University Cooperative
Extension and the United States Department of
Agriculture, administered nationally through the land
grant university system and at the County level by the
Cooperative Extension staff along with the local
volunteer 4 -H leaders who are outstanding men and women
in their communities; and
WHEREAS, the theme 114 -H for Youth for America"
highlights the contribution that 4 -H makes to the
growth and development of youth in Whatcom County; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of 4 -H Club work is to give equal
training to the head, heart, hands and health of young
people and to help prepare them to be better citizens
and leaders who will fit into the society where their
life's work may take them; and
WHEREAS, the citizenship and leadership training which
4 -H members receive in this program is a valuable asset
to our democratic way of life.
NOW, THEREFORE, we the County Council and Executive of
Whatcom County, do hereby proclaim October 5 through 11, 1986 as
114 -H Week" in Whatcom County, and urge the citizens of Whatcom
County to encourage and support the �wor work of o he 4 -H Clubs.
