RESOLUTION NO. 86 -25
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF A DAMAGED
SHERIFF'S VEHICLE AS SURPLUS PROPERTY
WHEREAS, R,C.W. 36.34 allows County government to sell
property if it is in the best interest of the County to do so;
and,
WHEREAS, Whatcom County Sheriff's vehicle number 80, 1976
Ford Customs, serial number 6J53C150513, license number C39229
has been totally damaged and is surplus and that it can no longer
function as a Sheriff's vehicle; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the people of
Whatcom County to sell this hulk; and,
WHEREAS, R.C.W. 36.34.020 requires publication of the
Notice To Sell and to hold a public hearing concerning that sale
unless the value of the property to be sold is less than $500.00;
and,
WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council has received three
(3) different bids for the above - mentioned hulk ranging from
$100.00 to $350.00 establishing to the satisfaction of the
Whatcom County Council that the value of the property is less
than $500.00 and therefore the sale can occur without the
requirement of further notice;

2 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that it is in the best
3 interest of the people of Whatcom County that the Whatcom County
4 Council authorize the sale of Sheriff's vehicle number 80, a 1976
5 Ford Custom, serial number 6J53C150513, license number C39229;
6 and
7
8 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that since the value of the
9 vehicle is less than $500.00 that the Whatcom County Council
10 waives the requirement for any further notice and that the sale
11 can occur without further notice and that the sale shall be for
12 cash and be to the highest and best bidder.
