RESOLUTION NO. 87-44
A JOINT RESOLUTION DECLARING THE APPOINTMENT
OF PAT MCMULLEN TO THE 40TH LEGISLATIVE
DISTRICT POSITION OF THE WASHINGTON STATE
SENATE SEAT
WHEREAS, a vacancy exists in the 40th District of a
Washington State Senate seat which was created by the
resignation of Senator Lowell Peterson, and
WHEREAS, Whatcom, Skagit and San Juan Counties are all
or partially encompassed in the 40th District, and
WHEREAS, the Precinct Committee persons of the 40th
Legislative District met on September 13, 1987 in Mount
Vernon, Washington, and selected Pat McMullen, Helen
Day and Chilton Ryan as their nominees, and
WHEREAS, the Democratic State Committee as constituted
by Revised Code of Washington 29.42.020 met on
September 19, 1987 in Shelton, Washington and ratified
the above list of nominees, and pursuant to the 52nd
amendment to the Washington State Constitution,
notified Whatcom, Skagit and San Juan Counties
of the above list of nominees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Whatcom County
Council members, Skagit and San Juan County Commissioners have
through joint action selected Pat McMullen to be appointed to
fill the vacant Washington State Senate seat for the 40th
Legislative District.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution shall
be mailed to Governor Booth Gardner, Ralph Munro, Secretary of
State and Sid Snyder, Secretary of Senate.
