HomeMy WebLinkAboutres1987-0431 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 INTRODUCED BY: Muenscher PROPOSED BY: Executive/ DATE: October 1, 1987 RESOLUTION NO. 87 -43 A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING OCTOBER 4 THROUGH 10, 1987 AS 04 -H WEEK" IN WHATCOM COUNTY ncil WHEREAS, Whatcom County's 4 -H members and leaders are observing National 4 -H Week, October 4 through 10, 1987; and, WHEREAS, 4 -H work is an educational program of the County, Washington State University Cooperative Extension and the United States Department of Agriculture, administered nationally through the land grant university system and at the County level by the Cooperative Extension staff along with the local volunteer 4 -H leaders who are outstanding men and women in their communities; and, WHEREAS, the theme "4 -H for Youth for America" highlights the contributions that makes to the growth and development of youth in Whatcom County; and, WHEREAS, the purpose of 4 -H Club work is to give equal training to the head, heart, hands and health of young people and to help prepare them to be better citizens and leaders who will fit into the society where their life's work may take them; and, WHEREAS,, the citizenship and leadership training which 4 -H members receive in this program is a valuable asset to our.democratic way of life. NOW, THEREFORE, we the County Council and Executive of Whatcom County, do hereby proclaim October 4 through 10, 1987 as "4 -H Week" in Whatcom County, and urge the citizens of Whatcom County to encourage and su ort the work of the 4 -H Clubs.
