RESOLUTION NO. 88-70
REQUESTING ADMINISTRATION TO EXAMINE CERTAIN
PERSONNEL ISSUES
WHEREAS, in order to remain competitive, fair to its employees and to
ensure compliance with affirmative action requirements, the County's existing
personnel classification plan will be reviewed early in 1989, as proposed in
the Executive's budget appropriation plan; and
WHEREAS, legitimate concerns regarding the equity of elected officials'
and exempt employees' salaries were voiced during the County Council's budget
process; and
WHEREAS, concerns also were voiced regarding the costs and benefits of
having some Whatcom County employees work seven -hour days rather than eight -
hour days.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Whatcom County Council requests
that the personnel classification study include exempt and elected officials'
positions; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council requests the administration to
examine the benefits and drawbacks of employees working seven rather than
eight hours in a day.
