A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR FUNDING
ASSISTANCE FOR AN OUTDOOR RECREATION PROJECT TO
THE INTERAGENCY FOR OUTDOOR RECREATION AS PROVIDED
BY FEDERAL LAND, WATER AND CONSUMPTION ACT
WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council has approved a "Comprehensive
Park and Recreation Open Space Plan" for parks, recreation,
trails, open space and shoreline access pertaining to Whatcom
County; and,
WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Marine Recreation Land Act,
state and federal funding assistance has been authorized and make
available to aid in recreational facilities of local public bod-
ies; and,
WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council considers it in the best pub-
lic interest to refurbish Lighthouse Marine Park, located in Point
Roberts, Washington.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Whatcom County Council:
1) That the County Executive be authorized to make formal appli-
cation to the Washington State Interagency Committee for Out-
door Recreation for funding assistance;
2) That any fund assistance so received be used in the refurbish-
ment of the boat launch and restrooms at Point Roberts, Wash-
ington;
3). That the County's share of the project will be derived from
the 1988 Park Levy Fund;
4) Whatcom County does hereby certify that the County is respon-
sible to support all non -cost commitments to the local share
should they not materialize;
5) That the Resolution become part of a formal application to
the Washington State Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recre-
ation.
Adopted by the Whatcom County Council at its regular meeting this
17th day of August 1989.
