2 APPRECIATION TO WILLIAM DITTRICH
FOR HIS DEDICATED SERVICE ON THE PARK AND RECREATION BOARD

4 HEREAS, William Dittrich was been a dedicated and long - serving
ember of the Park and Recreation Board for twenty -five years, and,
5
HEREAS, he served as chairman of the board for eleven of those
6 twenty-five years, providing the leadership to make the Whatcom
'ounty parks system one of nationally- recognized caliber; and,
7
HEREAS, Bill provided leadership which was instrumental in
$ successfully passing two bond issues and one maintenance repair
levy totalling over eight million dollars for park, recreation and
9 senior services
10 HEREAS, he. assisted in writing the original park manual of
policies and procedures and has assisted in a yearly review and
11 revision of this document; and,
12 WHEREAS, he conducted numerous educational park and recreation
board member workshops throughout the county, state and nation;
13. nd,
14 WHEREASp Bill's visionary leadership and dedication on the Board
provided a valuable legacy for the present and future generations
15 of Whatcom County,
16 OW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE-WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL
commends William J. Dittrich for his outstanding service to the
17 citizens of Whatcom County by his hard work, leadership and years
of membership on the Park and Recreation Board.
