A Resolution Requesting the Administration
To Undertake a Cost - Benefit Analysis
Of Adding a Part -Time Court Commissioner
WHEREAS, during its work sessions for the preparation of the 1989
Whatcom County Budget, the Finance Committee and the full Council heard from
the Clerk of the Superior Court, from a representative of the State of
Washington Department of Probation and Parole, and from the Superior Court
Presiding Judge that court time and County money could be saved by hiring an
additional part -time Court Commissioner, and that the expeditious handling
of certain cases by such hiring would serve justice better than is possible
presently; and,
WHEREAS action on this information appears to require a careful
analysis of the costs and benefits;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Administration is requested to
study the costs and benefits of such hiring, and to report to the Council
with recommendations for action, if any, on or before , 1989.
