SUMMARY STATEMENT.•
RCW 84.56.240 requires the County Treasurer to deliver to the County Auditor a listing of uncollectible
personal property taxes every January. In turn, the Auditor's Office delivers the list to the Council in
order for the Council to cancel the taxes. In 1990, a resolution was passed cancelling the uncollectible
personal property taxes from 1989; however, in the two years prior to that, the Council received the list
but took no action to cancel the taxes. This resolution corrects that oversight.

2 ORDERING THE CANCELLATION OF UNCOLLECTIBLE PERSONAL
3 PROPERTY TAXES FILED WITH THE AUDITOR ON JANUARY 3, 1989
4 AND JANUARY 4, 1988
5 WHEREAS, in accordance with RCW 84.56.240, each year in January the Whatcom
6 County Treasurer presents a list of uncollectible personal property taxes to the Whatcom
7 County Auditor, who in turn presents them to the County Council for cancellation; and
8 WHEREAS, the lists were delivered to the Council in January, 1989 and January
9 1988, but were never formally cancelled by the Council; and
10 WHEREAS, the County Treasurer respectfully requests cancellation of these
11 uncollectible taxes, incorporated herein as Exhibit A, in accordance with RCW 84.56.240;
12 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that the
13 personal property taxes listed as uncollectible in Exhibit A are hereby cancelled; and
14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the County Council Office staff will send
15 notification of the passage of this resolution to both the Treasurer and the Auditor.

SUBJECT: Cancellation of 1987 and 1988 Personal Property Taxes.
The enclosed is a lint of uncollectible personal property taxes
filed with the Whatcom County Auditor on January 3,1989 and
January 4, 1988.
In accordance with state law RCW 84.56.240 these lists were
delivered by the auditor to the county council to be canceled, but
were overlooked or for an unknown reason not completed.
The Whatcom County Treasurer is now respectfully requesting
cancellation of these uncol,lectible taxes in accordance with
RCW 84.56.240.
Please send verification of cancellation to Ken Colvin, Revenue
Deputy in the Whatcom County Treasurer's Office.
