EXTENDING THE COUNCIL'S APPRECIATION TO
PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYEES, INFORMATION
SERVICES, AND THE PURCHASING DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, due to space needs of the Council and other County Departments,
the Council in July of 1990 decided to move to the Courthouse Annex, 1000 N. Forest
Street until the Courthouse Addition is completed; and
WHEREAS, preparations for the move included remodeling of the new offices,
ordering supplies, surplus furniture, phone installation and computer equipment, with
most of the work needing to be complete prior to the Council's move in late August; and
WHEREAS, Administrative Services Director Mary Chisholm, along with
contractors and Building Maintenance staff, worked many long hours outside of the
regular scope of their duties, including evenings and weekends, in order to accomplish
the remodeling, carpeting and painting required for the move; and
WHEREAS, Information Services staff worked under a tight deadline to install
phones and connect office computers to 'a laser printer system; and
WHEREAS, while handling an unexpectedly high demand for purchases from other
County Departments, the Purchasing Department staff worked diligently to obtain the
equipment and office supplies needed as a result of the Council's move to Forest Street;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that
Administrative Services Director Mary Chisholm, the Public Works Building Maintenance
Division, the Information Services Department staff, and the Purchasing Department staff
are hereby commended for the extra time and effort exerted in order for the Council to
move its offices and operations to the Forest Street Annex. It is apparent that even
under the daily pressures of these departments' regular workloads, they were able to take
on an unscheduled, major project and accomplish the necessary tasks in a timely,
professional manner.
