Yes // No // SUMMARY STATEMENT- Council Chairman Don Hansey suggested this resolution be created to recognize the extra effort on the part of the above mentioned departments, and in particular of Administrative Services Director Mary Chisholm, in facilitating the Council Office's move to the Courthouse Annex. The resolution will be followed with letters to the departments involved, with copies to the Executive's Office. ORIGINATOR'S RECOMMENDED ACTION.• Haney recommends approval. COMMITTEE ACTION (including dates): COUNCIL ACTION (including dates): 9 -4 -90 Council passed Related File Numbers: Ordinance or Resolution Number: Res90 -61 thanks.res 9/4/90 SPONSORED BY: Hansey PROPOSED BY: Hansey INTRODUCTION DATE: 9 -4 -90 RESOLUTION NO. 90 -61 2 EXTENDING THE COUNCIL'S APPRECIATION TO 3 PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYEES, INFORMATION 4 SERVICES, AND THE PURCHASING DEPARTMENT 5 WHEREAS, due to space needs of the Council and other County Departments, 6 the Council in July of 1990 decided to move to the Courthouse Annex, 1000 N. Forest 7 Street until the Courthouse Addition is completed; and 8 WHEREAS, preparations for the move included remodeling of the new offices, 9 ordering supplies, surplus furniture, phone installation and computer equipment, with 10 most of the work needing to be complete prior to the Council's move in late August; and 11 WHEREAS, Administrative Services Director Mary Chisholm, along with 12 contractors and Building Maintenance staff, worked many long hours outside of the 13 regular scope of their duties, including evenings and weekends, in order to accomplish 14 the remodeling, carpeting and painting required for the move; and 15 WHEREAS, Information Services staff worked under a tight deadline to install 16 phones and connect office computers to 'a laser printer system; and 17 WHEREAS, while handling an unexpectedly high demand for purchases from other 18 County Departments, the Purchasing Department staff worked diligently to obtain the 19 equipment and office supplies needed as a result of the Council's move to Forest Street; 20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that 21 Administrative Services Director Mary Chisholm, the Public Works Building Maintenance 22 Division, the Information Services Department staff, and the Purchasing Department staff 23 are hereby commended for the extra time and effort exerted in order for the Council to 24 move its offices and operations to the Forest Street Annex.
