SUMMARY STATEMENT.•
Fire District No. 19's commissioners voted to request that the Council authorize the
name change. Council staff could not find anything in the Revised Code of Washington that
would prohibit such a name change.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
3/6/90: Council staff recommends the resolution be sent to the Auditor, Prosecutor and
What -Comm for review prior to passage of the resolution.

2 RESOLUTION NO. 90-28
3 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE NAME CHANGE FROM
4 WHATCOM COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT NO. 19
5 TO "GLACIER FIRE AND RESCUE"
6 . WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of Whatcom County Fire Protection
7 District No. 19 has determined that changing the District's name to "Glacier Fire and
8 Rescue" would more closely reflect the service offered by the district and the service area
9 of the district; and
10 WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners has submitted a certified copy of a
11 resolution of said board, adopted by a majority vote at a regular meeting, providing for
12 the name change;
13 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that
14 the change of name from " Whatcom County Fire Protection District No. 19" to "Glacier
15 Fire and Rescue" is hereby approved.
