SUMMARY STATEMENT.•
The resolution transfers assets of the Sumas Area Flood Control Zone District to Whatcom County
provided that when the Sumas River Sub -Flood Control Zone District is created the assets are then
transferred to the Sumas Subzone.

1 RESOLUTION NO. 91 -077
2 RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING ASSETS OF THE
3 SUMAS AREA FLOOD CONTROL ZONE DISTRICT
4 TO WHATCOM COUNTY FOR FLOOD CONTROL PURPOSES
5 WHEREAS, the Sumas Area Flood Control Zone District, in the support of a
6 Countywide Flood Control Zone District, is requesting to be dissolved; and,
7 WHEREAS, the Sumas Area Flood Control Zone District, once dissolved, will be
8 subsequently proposed for creation as the Sumas River Sub -Flood Control Zone District;
9 and,
10 WHEREAS, the Sumas Area Flood Control Zone District assets will be transferred
11 to Whatcom County with the provision that when the Sumas River Sub -Flood Control Zone
12 District is created the funds will then be transferred to the Sumas Subzone.
13 NOW, THEREFORE, BE. IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that the
14 assets of the Sumas Area Flood Control Zone District be transferred to Whatcom County
15 for the purposes of flood control, provided that when the Sumas River Sub -Flood Control
16 Zone District is created the assets will be conveyed to the Sumas Subzone.
