SUMMARY STATEMENT:
RCW 70.105.220 requires each loal government to prepare a local hazardous waste
management plan. This Plan provides background data and develops 4 strategies and
implementation plans for properly managing small quantities of hazardous waste that are
either ignitable, corrosive; reactive; or toxic.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adoption by resolution.

A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE WHATCOM COUNTY
HAZARDOUS WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN
WHEREAS, Section 70.105.220 of the Revised Code of
Washington requires that each local government, or combination
of contiguous local governments, prepare a local hazardous
waste management plan;
WHEREAS, the municipalities of Blaine, Everson, Ferndale,
Lynden, Nooksack, and Sumas have participated with Whatcom
County in the preparation of the Whatcom County Hazardous
Waste Management Plan;
WHEREAS, the municipalities of Blaine, Everson, Ferndale,
Lynden, Nooksack, and Sumas have passed resolutions adopting
the Whatcom County Hazardous Waste Management Plan dated May
1991;
WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Hazardous Waste Management
Plan meets the requirements established for local plans by the
Department of Ecology; and
WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council held a public hearing
on August 18, 1990 to obtain public comment on the plan;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the Whatcom
County Council, State of Washington, adopts the Whatcom County
Hazardous Waste Management Plan dated May 1991.
ADOPTED this 23rd day of July , 1991.
