1 RESOLUTION NO. 91 -036
2 A RESOLUTION IN THE MATTER OF THE HEARING ON POINT ROBERTS
3 TRANSPORTATION BENEFIT DISTRICT.
4 WHEREAS, pursuant to RCW 36.73.020, the Whatcom County Council shall
5 establish transportation benefit districts in addressing transportation needs; and,
6 WHEREAS, legislation has been passed to allow an added gas tax to be levied in any
7 transportation benefit district which has within its boundaries an international border
8 crossing; and,
9 WHEREAS, Point Roberts has within its boundaries an international border
10 crossing; and,
11 WHEREAS, the traffic due to the international border is derived from non - resident
12 individuals; and,
13 WHEREAS, the residents of Point Roberts see the transportation needs of the area
14 as a concern; and,
15 WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council does deem it in the best interest of the
16 County and the people thereof that the said transportation benefit district be established;
17 and,
18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that the
19 date of July 9, 1991 at 7:00 p.m., be set for the hearing of Point Roberts Transportation
20 Benefit District.
