Resolution directing the Auditor to advertise a call for bids for the County's official newspaper

SUMMARY STATEMENT. Each year, in accordance with State law, the Council is required to select an
official newspaper for legal advertisement publication. To start the process, the Council must direct the
Auditor to advertise for bid proposals "from qualified newspapers; this advertisement must be published
at least five weeks prior to the meeting at which the County will decide who gets the contract. The
Council is scheduled to make a decision on the contract award in April.

RESOLUTION NO. 92 -018
DIRECTING THE AUDITOR TO ADVERTISE A CALL FOR BIDS FOR
THE COUNTY'S OFFICIAL NEWSPAPER
WHEREAS, RCW 36.72.075 requires the County Council to contract with a legal
newspaper to serve one year as the official county newspaper beginning on the first day
of July; and
WHEREAS, said statute requires the County Auditor to advertise for bid
proposals from qualified legal newspapers interested in serving as the official county
newspaper; and
WHEREAS, said advertisement shall be made at least five weeks before the
meeting at which the Council shall let the contract for the official county newspaper;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that
the County Auditor is directed to issue a call for bids for the official County newspaper
for the year beginning July 1, 1992 and ending June 30, 1993, both dates inclusive. Said
bids will be opened, read aloud and considered at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, 1992 in the
Executive's Conference Room, Courthouse 2nd floor, Bellingham.
