RESOLUTION NO. 93 -036
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING AN APPLICATION
FOR WETLANDS A PLANNING ASSISTANCE GRANT
WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Staff has prepared an application for a wetlands planning
assistance grant as part of a State Wetlands Integration Strategy (SWIS) project sponsored by
Department of Ecology (DOE)and the Department of Community Development (DCD); and,
WHEREAS, the grant will provide up to $50,000 for the purposes of developing a wetlands
program which will include comprehensive plan goals and policies , regulations, maps and an array
of non - regulatory tools sufficient to implement the wetlands program; and,
WHEREAS, the wetlands program will further the objectives and goals of the comprehensive
plan, responds to the directives given to staff by the Council upon passage of the temporary Critical
Areas Ordinance; and,
WHEREAS, the County Executive has directed staff to make application for this grant,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL:
The Whatcom County Council hereby directs the administration to submit an application for
a wetlands planning assistance grant as part of a State Wetlands Integration Strategy (SWIS)
project to the Department of Ecology (DOE) for their review.
