1 RESOLUTION NO. 93-023
2 AUTHORIZING COUNTY STAFF TO RESEARCH IMPLICATIONS
3 OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ECOLOGY'S TRUST WATER
4 RIGHTS PROGRAM FOR WHATCOM COUNTY
5 WHEREAS, the Department of Ecology has created a Trust Water Rights Program;
6 and
7 WHEREAS, the Nooksack Basin has been designated as a Water Rights Inventory
8 Area (WRIA1); and
9 WHEREAS, a Trust Water Rights Program has the potential to be beneficial to the
10 agricultural and fishing communities; and
11 WHEREAS, the Council's Water Resources Committee reviewed this issue.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that the
13 County Executive is requested to direct the Water Resources Manager and other
14 appropriate staff to research the implications of the Department of Ecology's Trust Water
15 Rights Program for Whatcom County.
