County Council; and 6 WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Charter prohibits any Council Member from 7 receiving a salary in excess of 15 percent of the County Executive's salary; and 8 WHEREAS, the 35th and 54th amendments to the Constitution of the State of 9 Washington prevent County Council Members from receiving any pay increase during a term 10 in office; 11 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that 2 pursuant to the authority contained in Chapter 88 Section 2 Laws of the State of 13 Washington, 1st Extra session, the compensation to be paid to the office of Whatcom 14 County Council Members shall be as indicated: 15 For the year 1996 - $13,500 per year per Council Member 16 For the year 1997 - $14,000 per year per Council Member 17 The salary paid to Council Members shall not exceed 15 percent of the Executive's 18 salary in any given year, notwithstanding the approval of this resolution. 19 APPROVED this 23rd day of February , 1993. 20 21 ATTEST: WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL WHATCOM COUNTY, WASHINGTON 22 j r 23 R ona Reeves, Co Clerk Marge �'dlaw, Chair 24 15 Z6 APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CONTENT: Civil Deputy Pros.
