The Prosecuting Attorney's office has released a set of law books titled "Damages in Tort Actions" to Purchasing for
disposal. If the County Council approves sale, the books will be advertised and sold by sealed bid.
ORIGINATOR'S RECOMMENDED ACTION:

9 A RESOLUTION IN THE MATTER OF THE
10 SALE OF WHATCOM COUNTY SURPLUS PERSONAL PROPERTY
11 "DAMAGES IN TORT ACTIONS ", A SET OF LAW BOOKS
12 PURSUANT TO WCC 1.10

14 WHEREAS, a public hearing was held on January 26, 1993 to
15 discuss the sale of Whatcom County property; and
16
17 WHEREAS, It was determined to be in the best interest of Whatcom
18 County to sell a set of law books titled "Damages in Tort Actions ";
19
20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that
21 such property shall be sold by sealed bid subsequent to compliance
22 with the notice requirements of WCC 1.10.

24 AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that where there is no bid within the
25 advertised terms the county may withdraw the property from sale, or
26 if the county deems such action to be in the public interest, reject
27 any or all bids either written or oral, and thereafter negotiate the
28 sale of the property providing the negotiated price is higher than
29 the highest bid at the public sale and that the public has notice by
30 advertisement, under Section 1.10.190, and an opportunity to
31 compete, through mailed bids, for purchase by offer of a more
32 favorable price.
