This resolution requests that the Executive prepare the 1995 budget to accommodate a 103 percent increase in
tax revenue collection, rather than the 106 percent allowed under the law.

1 RESOLUTION NO. 94-04
2 REGARDING 1995 BUDGET PREPARATION
3 AND THE 1995 TAX LEVY LID
4 WHEREAS, in the fall of 1994 the Whatcom County Council will establish the
5 taxes to be levied for the coming year; and .
6 WHEREAS, State law allows the County to set the levy for taxes for the coming
7 year at 106 percent of the present year, providing a six percent increase in revenues; and
8 WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council wishes to ease the burden on
9 taxpayers as much as possible; and
10 WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council feels that an increase in the levy lid of
11 100 percent, rather than 106 percent, should be sufficient for the 1995 budget year;
12 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that
13 the County Executive is requested to prepare the 1995 budget for Whatcom County
14 government as though the levy lid will be lifted only to the 100 percent level.
