The county purchased a new chip spreader at the beginning of the year, choosing not to trade in the old one because
e offer was too low. Warren Laing, Equipment Manager, has received an offer from Gilliam County, Oregon, to
purchase the old chip spreader for $18,000. If declared surplus, it is proposed that the chip spreader be sold following
the procedures in WCC 1. 10.240 for intergovernmental sales of personal property. The Equipment Manager will be
authorized to sell the item for that price.
ORIGINATOR'S RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Hold a public hearing and resolve to sell the property.

RESOLUTION NO. ':94 -040
A RESOLUTION IN THE MATTER OF THE
SALE OF A SURPLUS CHIP SPREADER
AND THE SETTING OF A DATE FOR PUBLIC
HEARING THEREON PURSUANT TO WCC 1.10
WHEREAS, a 1979 WH chip spreader Model W is the property of Whatcom County; and
WHEREAS, the county purchasing manager has determined that it is in the best interest of
the county to sell such property, and has set its value at an amount in excess of $1,000;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that a public
hearing on the matter of the sale of such property be held on the 9th day of August, 1994 at
7:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter as is possible, in the Whatcom County Council Chambers at
311 Grand Avenue, Bellingham, Washington, for the purpose of admitting testimony for and
against the propriety of selling such equipment; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County Council is directed to give notice
of such hearing in -the manner prescribed by law.
