YES NO Please explain below Budget line item number(s): At the meeting on March 8, 1994 the Council passed a floor motion supporting a resolution to support the establishment of a PACE lane. This is a proposed resolution for the Council to adopt. LANE FOR THE 3 POINT ROBERTS BORDER CROSSING 4 WHEREAS, crossings at the Point Roberts international border have become 5 burdensome and onerous for American and Canadian residents of Point Roberts alike; and 6 WHEREAS, traffic changes investigated by the Transportation Services Department 7 are likely to only slightly mitigate the problem; and 8 WHEREAS, the institution of the P.A.C.E. `lane program at other international 9 crossings has proven to be a significant improvement; and 10 WHEREAS, residents of Point Roberts have requested that a P.A.C.E. lane crossing 11 be implemented to help alleviate the congestion they face; 12 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that we 13 do hereby support the establishment of a P.A.C.E. lane at the Point Roberts crossing and 14 urge the appropriate Canadian and American officials and agencies to swiftly establish this 15 program which will benefit citizens of both nations. 16 APPROVED this 22nd day of March . 1994. 17 18 ATTEST: 19 7C 7e, 20 Ramona Reeves, Council Clerk 21 APPROVED AS TO FORM: 22 23 9 � / Civil Deputy Prosecuting Atty.
