Nelson and Starkenburg opposed Related File Numbers: Ordinance o Re )olution Number (this item only): 95 -088 Uague.m 12/13/95 SPONSORED BY: Harris PROPOSED BY: Consent INTRODUCTION DATE: 12112195 1 RESOLUTION NO. 95 -088 2 RESOLUTION MARKING THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE LEAGUE OF 3 WOMEN VOTERS 4 WHEREAS, the year 1995 marks the Anniversary of the 75th amendment to the constitution 5 of the United States giving women the right to vote; and 6 WHEREAS, the year 1995 marks the 75th Annivsersary of the founding of the League of 7 Women Voters of the United States; and 8 WHEREAS, the League of Women Voters has provided nonpartisan information on 9 candidates and issues for elections, encouraged voter registration and informed voting, helped 10 generations of boteres understand the structure and function of government; provided nonpartisan, 11 balanced information on public policy issues to citizens, and worked to achieve government policies 12 that promote public interest; and 13 WHEREAS the League of Women Voters of Bellingham / Whatcom County continues in the ,L4 tradition of providing voter service to the Whatcom County community; 15 BE IT RESOLVED that the County Council recognizes the contribution made by the League 16 of Women Voters of the United States over the past 75 years and offer the heartiest 17 congratulations to the members of this organization during this anniversary year.
