1 RESOLUTION NO. 95 -083
2 COMMENDING WHATCOM COUNTY EXECUTIVE SHIRLEY VAN ZANTEN
3 AND BIDDING HER FAREWELL
4 WHEREAS, Whatcom County Executive Shirley Van Zanten chose not to seek re-
5 election in 1995; and
6 WHEREAS, Shirley Van Zanten is leaving her position with Whatcom County at the
7 end of 1995 to pursue other interests, after having served the citizens of Whatcom County
8 for more than sixteen years; and
9 WHEREAS, the Council commends Shirley Van Zanten for striving to maintain a
10 standard of professionalism and fairness while carrying out the day to day operations of
11 County government in what is often a politically - charged and intense working environment;
12 and
13 WHEREAS, the Council wishes to enter on the public record its appreciation for
14 Shirley Van Zanten's years of service to the people of Whatcom County;
15 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Whatcom County Council hereby
16 recognizes the value of Shirley Van Zanten's years of service as County Executive, County
17 Council Member, and as a member of various boards; and
18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Whatcom County Council offers best wishes
19 to Shirley Van Zanten for the future.
