The district broadcasts channels 4 & 5 to the Deming area, however since the cable company now serves the
area the district services are no longer needed. The four member board wishes to resign and cannot find
replacements for their positions. The resolution would dissolve the district.

2 DISSOLVING WHATCOM COUNTY TELEVISION RECEPTION IMPROVEMENT
3 DISTRICT #1
4 WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Television Reception Improvement District #1
5 broadcasts channels four and five to the Deming area; and
6 WHEREAS, the broadcast service is no longer needed since the local cable company
7 now serves the area; and
8 WHEREAS, each year people have declined to pay the district because they are
9 hooked up to the cable; and
10 WHEREAS, the amount of people using the Whatcom County Television Reception
11 Improvement District #1 service has been so low that billing was discontinued in 1993; and
12 WHEREAS, all four board members have served their full terms plus additional
13 years and wish to resign; and
14 WHEREAS, the current board members have contacted people in the area and can
15 find no one to replace their positions on the board; and
16 WHEREAS, a public hearing was held on the 17 th of October in the County
17 Council Chambers to discuss dissolving the Whatcom County Television Reception
18 Improvement District #1.

1 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that
2 Whatcom County Television Reception Improvement District #1 be dissolved effective
3 October 18, 1995
