Related contract #: Amount budgeted for this Iget line item I Since Alaska Packers donated the `Plover' to the County in 1980, the boat has been stored at Semaihmoo Park. The Maritime Historical Society wants to repair the boat and put it into service as a tourist attraction passenger ferry on Drayton Harbor. The County has no use for it in the foreseeable future, and because of its state of disrepair, its value is likely less than the cost of disposal. The Parks Department recommends that the County donate the boat to the Maritime Historical Society. Should Clerk schedule a hearing? Hearing set for September 19 Related File Numbers: Ordinance or Resolution Number (this item only): Res. 95 -05: SPONSORED BY: Consent PROPOSED BY: Administrative Services DATE INTRODUCED: Sent. 5. 1995 RESOLUTION NO. 95 7051 A RESOLUTION IN THE MATTER OF THE DONATION OF WHATCOM COUNTY SURPLUS PROPERTY AND THE SETTING OF A DATE FOR PUBLIC HEARING THEREON PURSUANT TO WCC 1.10 WHEREAS, the passenger launch `Plover is the property of Whatcom County; and WHEREAS, the County government has stored the boat at Semiahmoo Park since 1980, but has no use for it in the foreseeable future; and WHEREAS, the boat is in such disrepair that its value is likely less than the cost of disposal; and WHEREAS, the Whatcom Maritime Historical Society wants to repair the boat and put it back in service at the Historical Society's expense as a tourist attraction passenger ferry in Drayton Harbor; and WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Parks Department recommends donating the boat to the Historical Society; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that a public hearing on the matter of the donation of the passenger launch `Plover to the Whatcom Maritime Historical Society be held on the 19 day of September , 1995, at 7:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter as is possible, in the Council Chambers of the Whatcom County Courthouse at 311 Grand Avenue, Bellingham, Washington, for the purpose of admitting testimony for and against the propriety of donating such property; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County Council is directed to give notice of such hearing in the manner prescribed by law.
