2 ENDORSING
3 HUMAN RIGHTS EFFORTS IN WHATCOM COUNTY
4 WHEREAS, incidents of harassment and hate crimes in our community, have
5 shocked and outraged Whatcom County residents; and
6 WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council believes that part of the strength of
7 our community comes from its diversity and from the array of rich traditions of its many
8 residents; and
9 WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council wishes to improve understanding,
10 respect, and cooperation among all diverse groups that make up our community; and
11 WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council wishes to support human rights for all
12 Whatcom County citizens:
13 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Whatcom County Council
4 supports efforts to promote a positive community environment in which there is respect
15 for the rights and dignity of all human beings
16 APPROVED this 1 day of August, 1995.
