Setting a Hearing on the Proposed Sale of, Surplus Sheriff Vehicles

Vehicles that have reached the end of their useful life in the Sheriff's Department and have been replaced include
fifteen patrol sedans, a van, a pickup truck, and a utility vehicle. They are owned by the Public Works Department
Equipment Rental Fund. Last year the City of Tacoma apparently negotiated the sale of their surplus police vehicles
the City of Vladivostok in Russia for a substantially better than normal return. This year Public Works and the
eriff's Department are requesting the authority to negotiate the sale of the vehicles listed on the attached Exhibit
A to Vladivostok or to another Russian city together with the City of Bellingham. Sale will be conditioned on a better
than normal return. If negotiations are not successful, the vehicles will be held for sale at the annual county public
auction in September.
CLERK'S RECOMMENDED MOTION (for final action):
I move that the Council hold a public hearing to consider sale of the property.

RESOLUTION NO. 95 -028
A RESOLUTION IN THE MATTER OF THE SALE
OF WHATCOM COUNTY SURPLUS PROPERTY
AND THE SETTING OF A DATE FOR PUBLIC HEARING THEREON
PURSUANT TO WCC 1.10
WHEREAS, the surplus sheriff vehicles listed in the attached Appendix A are the property of Whatcom
County; and
WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Purchasing Agent has determined that it is in the best interest of the
County to sell such property, and has set its value at an amount in excess of $1,000;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that a public hearing on the
matter of the sale of such property be held on the 25th day of April
1995, at 7:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter as is possible, in the Council Chambers of the Whatcom County
Courthouse at 311 Grand Avenue, Bellingham, Washington, for the purpose of admitting testimony for and
against the propriety of selling such equipment; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County Council is directed to give notice of such hearing
in the manner prescribed by law.
