SUMMARY: An engineering study was conducted by the County Engineer's office and it is found that it is
beneficial to set a continuous speed limit on common routes within the County.

1 ORDINANCE NO. 95 -068
2 AN ORDINANCE REGARDING ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMIT
3 ON WEST BADGER ROAD, HAYNIE ROAD AND DELTA LINE ROAD
4 WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council is authorized under RCW 46.61.415 to
5 establish speed limits on County roads; and
6 WHEREAS, a common route between the cities of Lynden and Blaine has been
7 established from West Badger Road to Sweet Road via Haynie and Delta Line Roads; and
8 WHEREAS, an engineering study was conducted by the County Engineer's
9 office and it was determined that it is beneficial to set a continuous speed limit on. common
10 routes within the County;
11 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that the
12 speed limit on West Badger Road, Haynie Road and Delta Line Road be established as
13 follows:
14 West Badger Road:
15 45 mph from the Guide Meridian (State Route 539) West to its end, approximately
16 6 miles; Located within Sections 8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16, and 17, Township 40
17 North, Range 2 East of W.M.
18 Haynie Road:
19 45 mph from Delta Line Road West its entire length to Statvolt Road, approximately
20 3.25 miles; Located within Sections 9,10,11 and 12, Township 40 North, Range 1
21 East of W.M.
22 Delta Line Road:
23 45 mph from West Badger Road North to Haynie Road, approximately 0.50 miles;
24 Located within Section 7, Township 40 North, Range 2 East and Section 12,
25 Township 40 North, Range 1 East of W.M.
26 BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the County Engineer is hereby directed to install
27 the appropriate signs and that the Whatcom County Sheriff and the Washington State Patrol
28 be notified by a copy of this ordinance.

Provisions of this ordinance are hereby added to Whatcom County Code, Section
10.04.70 and removed from Section 10.04.080 and 10.04.050.
