1 ORDINANCE NO. 95 -066
2 ESTABLISHING NO SHOOTING ZONE COVERING THE NELSON ROAD AREA
3 WHEREAS, a citizen has petitioned the Whatcom County Council for the
4 formation of a no- shooting zone in the established residential area known as the Nelson
5 Road Area; and
6 WHEREAS, the petitioner has submitted the following to the council: Signatures
7 of at least sixty percent of persons owning property within the proposed boundaries of
8 the zone; legal description of the proposed boundaries of the no- shooting zone; a map
9 showing the proposed boundaries; cover letter explaining the reasons petition would like
10 the no- shooting zone to be formed, a history of shooting violations in the area, the name,
11 address, and phone numbers of a person who will act as liaison with the county council
12 concerning the proposed zone; and
13 WHEREAS, Whatcom County Council has in the past designated areas as no-
14 shooting zones in the interest of pubic health, safety and welfare;
15 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that
16 a new section of the Whatcom County Code 9.32 be added to create a new no- shooting
17 zone, described as follows:
18 A. No shooting zone [number to be assigned by Code revisor] also is known as
19 the Nelson Road Area.
20 B. The boundaries are described as follows: portions of the east one -half of
21 Section 17, Township 38 North, Range 5 East of W.M., said portions further described as

1 follows: The south one -half of the northeast one - quarter and All of the southeast one-
2 quarter lying west of Nelson Road, except the southerly 300 feet thereof and All of the
3 northeast one - quarter of the southeast one - quarter lying east of Nelson road, except the
4 southerly 510 feet thereof. All in Whatcom County, Washington.
