The 55 mph speed limit on Slater Road from I -5 to Haxton Way was established by Ordinance. 87 -27. An
Engineering study was conducted by the County Engineer's office and it was determined that the speed limit should
be amended to 50 mph from the railroad tracks at M.P. 6.54 to Elder Road, thus eliminating the 55 mph section
entirely.

1 ORDINANCE NO. 95 -013
2 AN ORDINANCE REGARDING REVISING THE SPEED LIMIT
3 ON SLATER ROAD
4 WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council is authorized under RCW 46.61.415 to
5 establish speed limits on County roads; and
6 WHEREAS, an engineering study was conducted by the County Engineer's
7 office;
8 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that
9 Section 10.04 of the Whatcom County Code regarding the speed limit on Slater Road be
10 amended as follows:

The speed liwAt shall be 55 wAles per- hour- on the fellevi4ng roads and streets.!
13 SLATER ROAD. Slatef Read ffem 15 to Haxten Way. (Ofd. 87 27 (part)).
14 to be replaced by the following:
15 10.04.080 Fifty miles per hour.

18 (Westerly of Rural Avenue) to Elder Road.

20 BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the County Engineer is hereby directed to
21 install the appropriate signs and that the Whatcom County Sheriff and the Washington
22 State Patrol be notified by a copy of this ordinance.
23 Provisions of this ordinance are hereby removed from Whatcom County Code,
24 Section 10.04.090 and amended to Section 10.04.080.
