Snmmary: Per the attached letter, Whatcom County Lake Management District No.1 is set to expire on January
1995. Due to the continued need to operate and maintain the flow augmentation dam on Friday Creek, until
a permanent water supply system is in place for the Lake Samish area, the duration of the Lake Management
District must be extended.

2 AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE DURATION OF
3 WHATCOM COUNTY LAKE MANAGEMENT DISTRICT NO. 1,
4 A LAKE MANAGEMENT DISTRICT FOR LAKE SAMISH
5 WHEREAS, Whatcom County Lake Management District No. 1 was created on
6 January 28, 1992, by Ordinance No. 92 -006, as proposed in Resolution 91 -051; and
7 WHEREAS, the initial duration of said district was for a period of three years
8 from the date of its creation; and
9 WHEREAS, per RCW 36.61 a lake management district may be created for a
10 period of up to ten years; and
11 WHEREAS, the need exists to extend the duration of said district, for
12 maintenance and operations activities, beyond the initial expiration date; and
13 WHERAS, no additional special assessments are proposed for said district to
`4 perform its activities.
15 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that
16 the duration of Whatcom County Lake Management District No. 1 is hereby extended
17 for a period of an additional seven years, to January 28, 2002, or until a permanent
18 public water supply system is in place for the boundaries of said district, whichever
19 comes first.
