SUMMARY STATEMENT. Please complete sections of box as appropriate & explain the item below.
SUMMARY: An engineering study was conducted by the County Engineer's office and it is found that conditions
warrant intersectional control modification to improve safety while still recognizing predominant traffic
movements.

1 ORDINANCE NO. 96 -018
2 AN ORDINANCE REGARDING INSTALLING STOP SIGNS
3 ON CERTAIN COUNTY ROADS
4 WHEREAS, in compliance with RCW 46.61.200 and 47.36.110, it is found necessary
5 and expedient to modify traffic control signs on certain County Roads; and
6 WHEREAS, an engineering study was conducted by the County Engineer's office;
7 and it is found that conditions warrant intersectional control modification.
8 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that
9 intersectional traffic control be modified at the following locations:
10 1) Install a stop sign Northbound on Stickney Island Road at Timon Road; within
11 Section 25, Township 40 North, Range 3 East, W.M.
12 2) Install a stop sign Southbound on Stickney Island Road 50 feet South of Timon
13 Road; within Section 25, Township 40 North, Range 3 East, W.M.
14 BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the County Engineer is hereby directed to install
15 the appropriate signs and that the Whatcom County Sheriff and the Washington State Patrol
16 be notified by a copy of this ordinance.
17 Provisions of this ordinance are hereby added to Whatcom County Code, Section
18 10.16. and hereby amend Whatcom County Code Section 10. 16.890 pertaining to this
19 intersection.
20 ADOPTED this 14 day of May , 1996.
