SUMMARYSTATEMENT,
Emergency Supplemental #6 requests funding:
From the General Fund:
(1) To appropriate $199, 407.42 from General Fund and SCRAP Grant to Jail to
meet the requirements of the Uniform Building Code for Whatcom County and
provide adequate staffing.
Additionally, Exhibit B to the 1999 Budget Ordinance, entitled "Authorized
Positions " should be corrected to include a 7.0 FTE increase for Corrections
Officers which is being added to Jail pursuant to this supplemental request.

ORDINANCE NO. 99 -039
EMERGENCY AMENDMENT NO. 6 OF THE 1999 BUDGET
amended
WHEREAS, the 1999 budget was adopted November 24, 1998; and,
WHEREAS, changing circumstances require modifications to the approved 1999 budget;
and,
WHEREAS, emergency conditions require action of both introduction and possible adoption
on the same meeting date since the Jail is now out of compliance with the Uniform Building
Code and the 90 -day extension which was granted by the City has now expired; and
WHEREAS, the modifications to the budget have been assembled here for deliberation by
the Whatcom County Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that the 1999
Whatcom County Budget Ordinance #98 -081 is hereby amended by adding the following
additional amounts to the budgets included therein:

proposed in this Emergency Supplemental #6.
