This Ordinance authorizes a refund, if applicable, or corrected payment to be received This Ordinance will also waive any interest or penalties until October 31, 1999. Henken, Assistant Director Sub -Flood Control Zone Assessment Reductions When the assessment notices for the three Sub -Flood Control Zone Districts were sent out, a number of complaints and concerns were received. As a result, our office thoroughly reviewed the assessment rolls for each of the three Sub -Flood Control Zone Districts. We determined that too large assessments were billed to 54 parcels in the Acme /VanZandt Sub -Flood Control Zone District, 16 parcels within the Lynden /Everson Sub -Flood Control Zone District and 142 parcels within the Sumas/Everson/Nooksack Sub -Flood Control Zone District. The enclosed Ordinance with attached Exhibits "A ", "B" and "C" will correct this error and authorizes a refund, if applicable, or corrected payment to be received, as the case may be. Inasmuch as the incorrect assessments were errors on the part of our office, the Ordinance will also waive any interest or penalties until October 31, 1999. The Administration of this Ordinance has been worked out jointly with Barbara Cory, Whatcom County Treasurer, and her staff. We respectfully request that the appropriate public hearing be held and that the Ordinance be enacted to begin the correction process. ERH/mp Attach:
