Juvenile Parks Planning Prosecutor Public Works Sheriff Superior Court Treasurer Other M*V9Q -021 INTRODUCED BY: CONSENT PROPOSED BY: AUDITOR DATE: MAY 18, 1999 ORDINANCE NO. 99- 027 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING WHATCOM COUNTY VOTING PRECINCTS WHEREAS, Ordinance 99 -006 was adopted modifying and updating precinct boundaries; and WHEREAS, a single County Ordinance establishing the legal boundaries for all precincts within Whatcom County is needed to promote simplicity, uniformity and to facilitate recording subsequent precinct boundary changes; and WHEREAS, further modifications to precinct boundaries were discovered during the finalization of those boundary changes specified in Ordinance 99 -006 requiring the repeal and replacement of that Ordinance; and WHEREAS, state law requires the County Council to establish all precinct boundaries; and WHEREAS, RCW 29.04.040 provides that precincts may contain as many as nine hundred registered voters and that no precinct boundary changes may be made starting 30 days prior to the first day candidates may file for the primary election through the period ending with the general election; and WHEREAS, the first day for candidates to file for the primary election is July 26, 1999, precinct boundaries must be established by June 25, 1999, and time is needed to implement the boundary changes. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that Ordinance 99 -006 is hereby repealed and this ordinance establishing the precinct boundaries specified in Exhibit A is hereby enacted.
