This request is to formally establish the position of FAMILY COURT COMMISSIONER as the position to be filled by the "Bocce Bill" commissioner authorized in the 1999 budget and paid for by grant funding under the statewide Bocce Bill reimbursements. Court commissioners are provided for in the Washington constitution and by statute. The matters to be heard by the Bocce Bill commissioner are those which a statutory commissioner may hear. COMMITTEE ACTION TAKEN: "OUNCIL ACTION TAKEN- 1999-41 1/12/99: Introduced 1126199: Adopted 7-0, Ord. #99-003 OR®.0" C1 003 INTRODUCED BY: Consent PROPOSED BY: Superior Court DATE: January 12, 1999 ORDINANCE NO. 99 -003 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING A FAMILY COURT COMMISSIONER WHEREAS, the Superior Court is limited by the Washington constitution to three full -time constitutional court commissioners, and, WHEREAS, Section 26.12.050, Revised Code of Washington, allows the Superior Court to appoint, in addition to the full -time commissioner positions, a family court commissioner to hear juvenile and family law matters, including those family law matters normally heard by the full -time constitutional commissioners; and, WHEREAS, the creation of a family court commissioner position is necessary for the efficient operation of the Superior Court to preside over any and all appropriate juvenile and family law matters, including, but not limited to truancy, at -risk -youth and children -in- need -of- supervision cases, and, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that the Superior Court judges shall appoint a Family Court Commissioner and shall designate the duties performed by that person.
