CVUMMARYSTATEMENT.
Nooksack Valley School District is now operating an elementary
School on Breckenridge Road An Engineering survey and
evaluation was conducted and it was found necessary to formally
establish a School Zone and 20 mph speed limit in the proximity of
the new school,

ORDINANCE NO. 98 -071
AN ORDINANCE REGARDING ESTABLISHMENT OF SPEED LIMITS
WITHIN A SCHOOL ZONE
WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council is authorized under RCW 46.61.415 to
establish speed limits on certain County roads; and
WHEREAS, the Nooksack Valley School District is now operating a new school,
Nooksack Elementary School, on Breckenridge Road, and
WHEREAS, an engineering survey and evaluation was conducted and it was found to
be necessary to formally establish speed limits within the vicinity of this new school structure,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that a school zone and speed limit be set
and posted as "20 miles per hour, when children are present" at the following location:
1) Breckenridge Road from the Nooksack city limits east for 1,800 feet, located in
Section 28 and 29, Township 40 North, Range 04 East, W.M.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the County Engineer is hereby directed to install
the appropriate signs and that the Whatcom County Sheriff, the Washington State Patrol and
the City of Everson Police be notified by a copy of this ordinance.
Provisions of this ordinance are hereby added to Whatcom County Code, Section
10.04.095.
