2 AMENDING ORDINANCE 97 -054 TO INCLUDE STATE
3 LANDS IN THE ASSESSMENT ROLLS OF THE FLOOD CONTROL ZONE
4 DISTRICT SUB -ZONES
5 WHEREAS, Whatcom County Ordinance 97 -054 authorizes a service charge of $25.00 on
6 each real estate parcel with an assessed valuation of more than $2,500.00 in each Flood Control Zone
7 District Sub -Zone; and
8 WHEREAS, R.C.W. 86.15.160 (4) declares state lands liable for service charges to the same
9 extent as private lands except as otherwise provided in R.C.W. 90.03.525; and
10 WHEREAS, certain state lands lie within the legally established boundaries of the Flood
11 Control Zone District Sub -Zones and are therefore liable for the $25.00 per parcel service charge.
12 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that Ordinance
Z 97 -054 is amended to include state lands in the assessment rolls of the Flood Control Zone District
�4 Sub - Zones.
15 BE IT FINALLY ORDAINED that the state lands shall be liable for service charges in
16 accordance with R.C.W. 86.15.160 (4).
