1 ORDINANCE NO. 97 -006
2 AN ORDINANCE REGARDING ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMIT ON PORTIONS
3 OF HARKSELL ROAD AND NORTH ENTERPRISE ROAD
4 WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council is authorized under RCW 46.61.415 to
5 establish speed limits on County roads; and
6 WHEREAS, a common route between Ferndale, Custer and Lynden has been
7 established from Enterprise Road to North Enterprise Road via Harksell Road; and
8 WHEREAS, an engineering study was conducted by the County Engineer's
9 office and it was determined that it is beneficial to set a continuous speed limit on common
10 routes within the County;
11 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that the
12 speed limit on portions of North Enterprise Road and Harksell Road be established as
13 follows:
14 North Enterprise Road:
15 35 miles per hour from Harksell Road North to Brookwood Drive, approximately
16 0.45 miles; Located within Sections 32 and 33, Township 40 North, Range 2 East of
17 W.M.
18 Harksell Road:
19 35 miles per hour from Enterprise Road to North Enterprise Road, approximately
20 0.40 miles; Located within Section 5, Township 39 North, Range 2 East, and Section
21 32, Township 40 North, Range 2 East of W.M.
22 BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the County Engineer is hereby directed to install
23 the appropriate signs and that the Whatcom County Sheriff and the Washington State Patrol
24 be notified by a copy of this ordinance.

Provisions of this ordinance are hereby added to Whatcom County Code, Section
10.04.50 and removed from Section 10.04.070 and 10.04.080.
