HomeMy WebLinkAboutres1999-06499crosalary.res SPONSORED BY: Consent PROPOSED BY: Clerk of the Council INTRODUCTION DATE: 11/23/99 RESOLUTION NO 99 -064 APPROVING A SALARY SCHEDULE FOR THE WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL FOR 2002 AND 2003 WHEREAS, it is necessary to establish, several years in advance, the salaries of the Whatcom County Councilmembers; and WHEREAS, the 35th and 54th amendments to the State Constitution prevent Councilmembers from voting salary increases for themselves that will take effect during their present terms of office; and WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Charter prohibits any Councilmember from receiving a salary in excess of 15 percent of the County Executive's salary; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that the maximum compensation to be paid to individual Whatcom County Councilmembers shall be as indicated, provided that the salary paid to Councilmembers may not exceed 15 percent of the Executive's salary in any given year: For the year 2002, the salary shall not exceed $15,500 per Councilmember. For the year 2003, the salary shall not exceed $16,500 per Councilmember. APPROVED this 23 day of Nov. , 1999.
