(Y/N) N Requested Date: The deadlines for submittal of information for the Whatcom County Council agenda have changed since the last approved resolution 96 -010. This new resolution states the new deadlines now in effect. RECOMMENDED MOTION (for final action): COUNCIL ACTION TAKEN: 1999 - 285 9/21/99: Amended and approved 5 -0, Dawson, Nelson absen f VEG 99-0+6 ' Related File Numbers: Ordinance or Resolution Number (this item only): -RES. * qa' ()+(v packares 7/99 SPONSORED BY: Consent PROPOSED BY: Council Clerk INTRODUCTION DATE: 9 / 21/ 9 9 2 RESOLUTION NO. 99 -046 3 SETTING DEADLINES FOR RECEIPT OF WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL 4 AGENDA INFORMATION AND DOCUMENTATION 5 6 7 WHEREAS, the Clerk of the Council prepares the Council agenda and packet on 8 Tuesday of the week prior to all regularly scheduled meetings; and 9 10 WHEREAS, the Clerk of the Council has set a deadline of 4:30 p.m. on agenda 11 preparation day for receipt of any agenda items; and 12 13 WHEREAS, this schedule has been set to allow for adequate review time of 14 information and documentation by Council members, County staff, and members of the 15 public; and 16 17 WHEREAS, Council members are often presented with a substantial amount of 18 information and documentation on the day of a scheduled Council meeting, and 19 20 WHEREAS, this additional information and documentation is usually received 21 during a Council standing committee or immediately preceding the evening Council 22 meeting; and 23 24 WHEREAS, "last minute" presentation of information and documentation does not 25 allow adequate time for review; 26 27 NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that 28 Committee /Council members will not accept additional information and documentation 29 after the packet has been prepared unless that information is presented in committee and the 30 Committee votes to accept the information, or the full Council votes to accept the 31 information during the evening Council meeting; and 32 33 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that committee members shall not forward, for 34 Council decision, any item which has had a substantial amount of information or 35 documentation added or deleted since the item was presented for inclusion in the Council Page 1 I packet; and 2 3 BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Whatcom County Council will vote to hold 4 any necessary items in committee when there is a need for additional discussion and review 5 time. 6 7 APPROVED this 21 day of September1999. 8 9 10 11 ATTEST: 12 13 14 15 Dana rown- Davis, Clerk of the Council 16 17 APPRO D AS TO FOB 18 19 20 Civil eputy Prosecutor Page 2 WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL WHATCOM CO., WASHINGTON Tom Brown, Acting Council Chair
